It was one of those trips I took with Jayne looking at some horses, I had my forever first horses: Ringo and Buck. Then along came Cisco, I was very content with three. So, here we are and there’s this little spotted mare under a blanket that I kept going back to. Kept telling myself, “No, I do not need another horse, No I do not need another horse.” I even have that tee shirt! She sure was a cutie, nice and short at 4 years old. I was thinking, “Oh gosh, how am I going to tell Jim, that I (he) bought another horse? “How many horses can you ride?” he asks…my answer, “How many motorcycles can you ride?” Moot point thereafter, although I think there may be more iron horses in this equation.
Annie kept growing taller and wider. She snorts, head tosses, pins her ears back, swishes her tail and paces instead of racks. Even lies down during lunch breaks with me in the saddle. But she is smart, and she’s a do ANYTHING horse. Back when we first rode no one wanted to be behind or around her. She is a now a wonderful trail mount and camping horse. She proved herself most to me this past year…at the trail safety class willingly going through the fire and all the other obstacles; riding in the surf at Myrtle Beach after being hauled 9 hours and placed in an 8x8 outside corral with 1000s of other horses riding by; and best of all receiving a compliment during our CCSC camping trip at Watson Mill Bridge…”We want to ride be behind you and Annie.” Wow, Annie, you’ve come along way! She’s a definite keeper!
